How I work
The same four principles in every case
Trust begins with knowing, from the outset, how your matter will be handled. I apply the following principles to every case I take on.
Confidentiality
Everything you tell me in a meeting is covered by my duty of confidentiality under Article 36 of the Attorneyship Law. This duty applies even before you grant a power of attorney.
Clarity
I explain the options, risks and possible outcomes of your matter in plain language. I give you a realistic picture; because no one can know in advance how proceedings will end, I make no promises about the outcome.
Personal handling
I take direct responsibility for handling your case. You can share your questions and documents with me throughout the process.
Regular updates
I inform you in writing of every significant development. You can also follow your case yourself on the UYAP Citizen Portal via e-Devlet.
How we work together
From appointment to follow-up in four steps
From arranging a meeting to handling your case, our working process has four steps.
Appointment
Call, message on WhatsApp or e-mail to arrange a meeting at a time that suits you.
First meeting
We review your documents together and discuss your situation and the available options openly.
Power of attorney
If you decide to proceed, we agree on the terms of our engagement, and a power of attorney is then issued at a notary.
Follow-up and updates
I handle the court and enforcement proceedings and keep you informed of developments and next steps.
Frequently asked questions
Questions you may have
Answers to the questions most often asked by people working with a lawyer for the first time.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Simply bring whatever you have relating to the matter: contracts, correspondence and messages, any notices or formal warnings you have received, court or enforcement office decisions if there are any, and invoices and payment records. Putting the documents in date order and jotting down a brief account of events makes the meeting easier. Documents specific to each area of practice are also listed under that area. If some documents are missing, there is no need to postpone the meeting; we will identify the gaps together and discuss how to obtain them.
Will what we discuss remain confidential?
Yes. An attorney may not disclose information learned in the course of the profession; this is a legal duty under Article 36 of the Attorneyship Law. The duty also covers what you tell me at the first meeting, before any power of attorney is granted; even if you decide not to work with me, what you have shared remains confidential. You can therefore describe your situation openly, including the aspects you think may not be in your favour.
How do I grant a power of attorney?
A power of attorney is the document that allows an attorney to represent you before the courts and public authorities, and it is issued by a notary. You only need to visit any notary in Türkiye with your identity document. We decide together at the first meeting which matters the authority should cover, and I send you in writing the details the notary will need. For a power of attorney on behalf of a company, the person authorised to represent the company applies with the company’s specimen signature certificate. If you are abroad, you can also grant a power of attorney through a Turkish consulate.
How can I follow the status of my case?
I inform you in writing of significant developments, such as hearing dates, the other side’s submissions, expert reports and decisions. Whenever a decision is needed from you, I explain the options and what each one means. You can also view the steps taken and the documents in your file at any time by logging in to the UYAP Citizen Portal with your e-Devlet password. You are welcome to raise any question by telephone or e-mail.
Can you take on a case outside Gaziantep?
Yes. Attorneys may act before courts and enforcement offices anywhere in Türkiye, regardless of the bar at which they are registered. Because submissions and file procedures are handled electronically through UYAP, a case being in another city does not make it harder to follow. Attendance at hearings is planned according to the case: attending in person, joining by video through the e-Duruşma system, or authorising a local colleague are options we discuss with you in advance.
How do we discuss legal fees?
At the first meeting, I begin by listening to you, and we assess your situation and the possible ways forward together. If you decide to work with me, the scope of work, the fee and the expenses are set out clearly in a written agreement before any work begins. The fee is agreed at no less than the Minimum Attorney Fee Tariff published each year by the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. This way, you know from the outset what to expect.
Contact and appointments
How can I help?
You can call, message on WhatsApp or send an e-mail to arrange an appointment or to briefly describe your matter.
Meetings are held at the office by appointment. I may not be able to answer the phone while in court; if you leave a message or send an e-mail, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
